Famous modeler. As early as 1773, began his career at the waxworks shop of the Museo di Fisica e Storia Naturale of Florence, where he stayed for the rest of his life. Studied anatomy with Felice Fontana (1730-1805), and observed the dissections of cadavers performed by Paolo Mascagni (1755-1815) and Filippo Uccelli (1770-1832).
