Giuseppe Bezzuoli
1784-1855

Bezzuoli, a Florentine painter, was representative of a purist, moderate romanticism. He painted many frescoes in villas and palaces of his city, historical genre paintings such as Charles VIII's entry into Florence (1825-1829) (Florence, Modern Art Gallery), and portraits such as Grand Duchess Maria Antonia (1836) (Florence, Modern Art Gallery). For the Tribuna di Galileo in Florence, he painted a fresco of Galileo (1564-1642) demonstrating the law of falling bodies.
