An able scientific-instrument maker from Geneva. He was highly esteemed by the scientists Jean-André De Luc (1727-1817) and Horace-Bénédict de Saussure (1740-1799), for whom he often produced barometers, hygrometers, and other apparatus. His son Théodore-Marc (1760-1832) designed a maximum and minimum hygrometer.
