John Troughton
18th C.

John Troughton, active between c. 1752 and 1784, came from a London family that included several able makers of scientific and optical instruments. He went into partnership with his uncle Edward Troughton (1756-1835) in c. 1760, and later with his younger brother Joseph (18th C.). The Troughtons produced many domestic barometers.
