Lieberkuhn

Concave mirror with a central hole to light the side of an opaque microscope specimen facing the observer. It is made of silvered metal and is inserted between the objective and the tilted stage of the microscope so as to reflect the light on the specimen. This microscopy accessory is named after the German anatomist Johannes Nathanael Lieberkühn (1711-56), who invented it c. 1740.
