Compound microscope built by Edmund Hartnack. The mirror and stage are placed above a ball-and-socket joint holding the pillar with the body-tube. Coarse focus is by sliding the body-tube in its metal sleeve; fine focus is by a screw and knob. A bull's eye lens is mounted on an articulated arm that fits over the sleeve.
