Like all the eldest sons of the House of Orléans, Louis-Philippe-Joseph bore the title of Duc de Chartres from 1752 to 1785. Known for his opposition to absolutism and his support for the revolutionary cause. Nicknamed Philippe-Égalité as a result, was elected to the Convention in 1792 and voted in favor of the execution of Louis XVI (1754-1793). Having later become suspect to the revolutionaries, was arrested and guillotined in 1793.
