Magnetic meridian

Vertical plane on which the magnetic needle of the compass is placed, in free rotation on the horizontal plane. The intersection of the vertical and horizontal planes generates the so-called meridian line, or meridian of the magnetic north. The magnetic meridian differs by some degrees from the local geographic meridian, which is the vertical plane passing through the terrestrial poles and the observer's zenith.
