Majolica

Type of ceramic, coated with a tin-based enamel, usually white or decorated with colored patterns. Named after the island of Majorca, a production site for this type of jar, which was appreciated on the Continent. In Italy, the leading centers of majolica manufacture—in terms of volume as well as quality—included Faenza, Urbino, and Lodi.
