Urine glass
Urine glass

The urine glass was a vessel for inspecting urine. It consisted of a clear, thin glass phial enclosed in a straw webbing with a lid and handle. The iconography, particularly in the Middle Ages, often shows a physician examining the sample by holding the urine glass up to the light. Indeed, the urine glass became one of the emblems of the medical profession.
