    • Mechanism of turret clock with peg escapement (inv. 3733)

Unlike domestic clocks, turret clocks have the dial and the chime mechanism separate from the clockwork, which is enclosed in a forged iron cage. At least up to the mid-17th century, the mechanism had to be periodically adjusted to match the time indicated by a sundial. This clock has clockwork with peg escapement -a type of anchor escapement- and pendulum regulator.
